Position Overview :
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced MLS Blood Bank Supervisor to join our clients team in Las Cruces New Mexico. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the daytoday operations of the blood bank department ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintaining the highest level of quality and accuracy in all blood bank procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
Manage and supervise the blood bank department including hiring training and evaluating staff
Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the blood bank
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including AABB FDA and CLIA
Oversee the collection processing and distribution of blood products including blood typing crossmatching and antibody screening
Monitor and maintain inventory levels of blood products and supplies
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical or operational issues within the blood bank department
Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate delivery of blood products to patients
Participate in quality control and quality assurance activities including proficiency testing and equipment maintenance
Keep uptodate with industry developments and advancements in blood bank technology and procedures
Maintain accurate and complete records of all blood bank activities
Ensure a safe and clean work environment adhering to all safety protocols and procedures
Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field
Current MLS certification from ASCP or equivalent
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a blood bank setting with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
Strong knowledge of blood bank procedures regulations and quality control measures
Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a fastpaced environment
Proficient in using laboratory information systems and other relevant software
Flexibility to work weekends holidays and oncall as needed
