Job Summary
Northwest Tennessee Veterinary Services are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a busy mixed animal practice located in Dresden, TN with three veterinarians on staff. Our clinic strives to provide excellent care of our patients and extraordinary customer service to our clients.
As a veterinary technician at NTVS, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. Your expertise will contribute to the health and well-being of a variety of animals, including pets, livestock and equines. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion for animal care, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Large animal experience is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Perform laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis, to help diagnose animal health issues.
- Restrain animals safely and effectively for examinations and treatments.
- Provide proper animal husbandry by ensuring that all animals are housed in clean, safe environments with adequate food and water.
- Monitor animal vital signs and behavior to assess their health status.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting treatments and observations.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure high-quality veterinary care is delivered consistently.
Qualifications
- Certification or degree in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program is required
- Licensed Veterinary Technician in the state of Tennessee or can obtain license is preferred.
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and dental terminology is essential.
- Experience with animal restraint techniques and handling various species is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
