What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRiO College Mentor and Tutor position at Northwest Tri-county Intermediate Unit 5?
The TRiO College Mentor and Tutor provides academic tutoring and mentorship to assist middle and high school students enrolled in IU5's Federal TRiO programs : Talent Search and Upward Bound Math and Science. These programs are dedicated to identifying and supporting low-income, first-generation college bound students in successfully progressing from middle school through postsecondary programs.
Position Details :
This is a part-time contracted position working approximately 10-15 hours per week, Monday through Saturday. The schedule is flexible. Hourly rate is $15 / hour
Qualifications Required :
- Currently enrolled in a local four-year college
- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the targeted subject matter
- Work comfortably with students from diverse backgrounds
- Effective communication and organizational skills

This job operates in a professional office environment. Incumbent must be able to sit at desk for extended periods of time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment with a vast majority of the time utilizing computers to complete daily tasks. Due to travel outside of the home office, candidates are required to have reliable transportation to attend job related duties, meetings, seminars, and trainings.
