NMC is currently recruiting for an Ophthalmology Assistant at Northwestern Ophthalmology. This position is a regular part-time position (64 hours bi-weekly), hours are 8a-4:30p Mon, Wed, Thur, Fri.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Ophthalmic Assistant provides vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist. They will assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling and exam room preparation.
All positions within Physician Services are expected to cross train to other areas. Each employee will have a dedicated home department but will have the opportunity to float to other areas as needed for coverage and to maintain skills.
PREREQUISITES:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of Ophthalmic Technician Program, or Medical Assisting program
Experience: 1-2 years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice preferred.
Other: Knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy and physiology required. Strong communication skills, and ability to effectively explain the examination process to a variety of patients required.
