What are the responsibilities and job description for the CIT Developer Instructor position at Northwestern Michigan College?
This faculty position is responsible for working in the Computer Information Technology (CIT) department within the Business Academic Area supporting the CIT Developer program. This instructor must be able to prepare and deliver instruction in application development (computer programming), web development, databases as well as support other general IT courses. This instructor should have development experience using the Microsoft .NET framework, HTML & CSS, JavaScript, and Microsoft SQL.
Industry certification is highly valued in the NMC CIT programs and the CIT Developer program utilizes the Certiport Information Technology Specialist certification in many courses. This instructor will be required to become certified in the content areas they teach within one year of employment.
This instructor is expected to develop curriculum, deliver content using a variety of formats, assess student learning and program quality, maintain industry relationships, advise students, and contribute to the growth and development of the academic area. A CIT instructor is expected to keep up-to-date on IT tools and technology; professional development funding is provided. This position includes the possibility of teaching using different delivery formats (in-person, hybrid, online, accelerated) and at different times (day, night, summer semester).
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of IT related experience or teaching experience
Preferred
- Master’s degree
- Five years of IT related experience or teaching experience at the college level
- Related industry certifications
- Work or teaching experience related to using the Microsoft .NET framework
- Experience in online course instruction.
- Experience in academic advising.
- Experience with course development
