Summary & Qualifications :

Summary

The Director of Annual Giving & Special Events executes all projects of the annual giving program, manages the President's Club annual giving society, and assists with and / or runs special events. This position completes more than 50 fundraising projects annually including solicitations and reporting pieces sent to alumni, donors, and community members. This position provides personalized communication and reporting to donors in the President's Club, a giving society for those who give $1,000 or more annually.

Additionally, this position will assist with and / or manage events such as donor stewardship events, college-wide fundraisers with an emphasis on unrestricted giving, community lectures, exhibition openings, and more in concert with colleagues within the Dennos Museum and International Affairs Forum. This position reports to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and frequently works closely with colleagues in multiple departments including executive directors and program directors, as well as the President's Office occasionally, to execute unit-specific projects.

Qualifications

  • Two years of demonstrated written communication experience with letters, newsletters, mail merges, etc. (Required)
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • At least one year experience in project planning (Required)
  • At least one year experience in event management (Required)
  • Database experience with the ability to navigate independently (Preferred)
  • Evidence of organizational skills, with strong attention to detail (Preferred)
  • Experience with content development (graphic design, web, PR, communications, or marketing materials) (Preferred)
  • Exceptional knowledge of personal computers, word processing, and spreadsheets (Preferred))
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills (Preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize and take on new tasks in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment (Preferred)
  • Experience in team environment and strong interpersonal skills (Preferred)

Essential Responsibilities

  • Critical) Executes annual fundraising and reporting strategies for The Fund for NMC, academic program and scholarship funds, the Dennos Museum Center, WNMC radio, International Affairs Forum, Extended Educational Services, and other college programs.
  • Critical) Manages multiple projects (more than 50 per year) of varying length, scope, and size with overlapping timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and project goals achieved.
  • Critical) Develops story ideas and content and represents the college and the NMC Foundation during interviews with students, donors, faculty, staff, and other potential story subjects.
  • Critical) Writes content for a regional, national, and international audience, including : fundraising solicitations, newsletters, eNewsletters, social media, crowdfunding pages, invitations, and other publications and pieces as necessary.
  • Critical) Develops donor loyalty and builds a foundation for future major donors through providing excellent, personalized communication and reporting to all annual donors including President's Club, a giving society for those who give $1,000 or more annually.
  • Critical) Facilitates identification of major and planned giving prospects, in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Critical) Assists with and / or manages events that engage donors and other constituents, such as donor stewardship events, college-wide fundraisers, community lectures, exhibition openings, and more.
  • Critical) Remains updated on current fundraising and direct marketing trends, practices, and procedures used in the not-for-profit sector, sharing knowledge with Foundation staff as appropriate and applying it strategically.
  • Critical) Collaborates with executive directors and program directors, as well as the President's Office occasionally, to complete unit-specific fundraising pieces including solicitations, newsletters, social media content, crowdfunding pages, and more.
  • Critical) Works collaboratively with the Database and Prospect Research Specialist to create targeted mailing and email lists, reviews and checks data lists for quality, and contributes to maintaining the integrity of the donor database.
  • Critical) Initiates quotes for projects from outside vendors, ensuring projects stay within budget.
  • Critical) Tracks revenue, number of donors, cost, ROI, and other key performance indicators related to each project.
  • Critical) Provides needed input and information to printers, mail fulfillment vendors, graphic designers, and key college faculty and staff.
  • Very Important) Exports donor information from the Raiser's Edge database for mailing lists and other purposes.
  • Very Important) Provides exceptional customer service to all donors, alumni, volunteers and other constituents.
  • Very Important) Manages NMC Foundation's social media presence.
