What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director - Business Continuity & Risk position at Northwestern Mutual?
As the Assistant Director of Business Continuity & Risk, you will focus on the ongoing governance of the Enterprise Business Continuity Management program. This role will be responsible for working with the Vice President of Business Resiliency & Risk and Senior Director Business Resiliency & Risk to carry out the strategic vision for the program, including Enterprise Crisis Management. In addition to supporting business continuity lifecycle planning activities, this role will be responsible for BCM program governance enterprise exercise program, program performance metrics, regulatory inquiry responses. This role will focus on maintaining a collaborative environment, maintaining methodologies to regulatory requirements, and keeping pace with industry best practices.
* Provide support in strategic initiatives for the business continuity program.
* Manages both expectations and work to deliver solutions on time and within resource constraints.
* Interacts, negotiates, and influences project teams and business partners towards solutions and results.
* Manages the successful governance and maintenance of the Business Continuity Management Program.
* Triage incoming regulatory inquiries from local, state and federal governing bodies.
* Annual review of BCM Policies and Standards
* Manage third party governance strategy and execution.
* Execute annual Threat Risk Assessment in partnership with Senior Director Business Resiliency & Risk
* Development and reporting appropriate status and performance metrics and risk information to drive continuous improvement.
* Mature enterprise exercise strategy
* Manage and execute BCM training program.
* Manage application governance approach and execution.
Implement and manage BCM quality assurance/quality control program
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, MIS or Project Management OR a significant amount of directly related work experience beyond the minimum required for the position.
* Minimum 7 years experience and understanding of NM's business processes, products and standard project management processes.
* Proven ability to apply knowledge and perspectives across departments.
* Proven management skills including negotiating, leadership, delegation, planning and organization.
* Proven ability to manage large, cross-functional projects that apply technology to solve a business problem or meet a business need.
* High degree of personal initiative and motivation.
* Proven ability to influence change with diplomacy.
* Ability to develop long range plans to coordinate multiple projects.
* Proven ability to influence at all levels in the organization.
* Strong communication skills verbal, written, and formal presentation essential.
* Proven ability to manage conflicting demands and needs.
Ability to manage project financials such as return on investments (ROI) and business value analysis preferred.
