What are the responsibilities and job description for the BEHAVIOR SUPPORT SPECIALIST / ALT ED FACILITATOR position at Northwood School District?
JOB GOALS:
· To increase K-8 student outcomes by increasing the capacity of Northwood School to serve students with emotional-behavior disorders/challenges, especially in inclusive settings;
· To work in partnership with building educators, related staff and administrators to provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral support in the public-school setting to students with emotional-behavior disorders / challenges;
· To provide direct instruction in behavior management and/or social emotional learning.
· To increase high school student outcomes by planning, implementing, coordinating, and reinforcing instruction to individual students and small groups in a variety of academic subjects and learning activities (including ELO’s);
· To work with students, parents, district administration and local high schools to develop personal education plans using alternative pathways to effectively support student achievement for alternative education students
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Current certification as Special Education Teacher K-12 with the New Hampshire Department of Education;
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university;
· Related job experience working with at risk and/or behaviorally challenged students in an educational setting;
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
