Responsibilities
The Director, Laboratory is responsible for the overall operation of the facility’s lab to ensuring test results are produced accurately and timely on a 24/7 basis. In addition, this position works to improve patient, physician and employee satisfaction, standardize operations, and reduce costs, while ensuring that all regulatory agency standards are met or exceeded. The director works to create a learning environment for students enrolled in affiliated medical technologist and medical laboratory technician programs as required, and remains current with knowledge and technology advances in the field of laboratory medicine, regulations, information management and healthcare administration.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensures the laboratory meets or exceeds all applicable regulatory agency and safety standards and system values; Works to meet or exceed facility, departmental and personal quality improvement goals.
- Establish and implement processes which assure that all orderable laboratory tests are performed accurately and timely on a 24/7 basis.
- Works to continuously increase departmental productivity and to decrease cost per test.
- Creates a culture which fosters the desire to succeed. Consistently promotes an environment of improved patient, physician & employee satisfaction.
Qualifications
Required:
- Three years laboratory management
- Bachelor Degree
- One of: CT-ASCP or HTL or MT or QCYM or MLS
Desired:
- Master Degree
- Diplomate in Laboratory Management (ASCP)
- Medical Technologist
- Cytotechnologist (ASCP)
- Histotechnologist
- Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Qualification in Cytometry
