Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible for the gross examination and description of surgical specimens submitted to the Pathology Department. The Pathology Assistant is to have a thorough knowledge and great proficiency in the skills of performing gross description and cutting techniques of surgical specimens. They should be capable of performing moderate and highly complex procedures in Surgical Pathology. They should present a pleasing and helpful manner to clients, physicians and all hospital personnel. They should be able to communicate with physicians, pathologists and clinicians in a knowledgeable and professional manner as well as support and contribute to the laboratory objectives by assisting their fellow employees. They are responsible for compliance with relevant local, state and federal guidelines and regulations. The incumbent is to present for work in a timely manner, groomed professionally, and perform their job function in accordance with all Norton Healthcare standards, policies and procedures. Qualifications
Required:
- One year in health sciences
- Bachelor Degree
- One of: PATHA or MD Incumbents with no active MD licensure must obtain Pathologists Assistant (ASCP) (PATHA) credential within one year of hire.
Desired:
- Master Degree; Doctorate Degree
- Medical Doctor OR Pathologists Assistant (ASCP)
