What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Billing Specialist position at Norwell Pediatrics?
Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion for healthcare billing? Norwell Pediatrics, a warm and family-focused pediatric practice, is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Optimize revenue cycle management including eligibility, claims submission, payment posting for ERA’s, denial management, accounts receivable follow-up and reporting.
- Ensure billing and coding for all services are accurate and “scrubbed”, before sending to clearinghouse
- Oversee batched deposits and daily payment logs balance and process in a timely manner
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of billing and collections processes.
- Help implement a credit card on file (CCOF) policy
- Send out patient statements and process CCOF regularly
- Verify patient insurance coverage and assist families with billing inquiries
- Reach out to families for collection of amounts owed
- Communicate with outside vendors for credentialing as needed
- Provide reimbursement analyses and reports to owner monthly
- Meet with owner regularly as needed to resolve billing concerns
- Ensure compliance with medical billing regulations and best practices
- Ensure financial documents are updated regularly
- Assist with administrative duties to keep the office running smoothly
- Maintain office policies, procedures, and compliance with healthcare regulations
Qualifications:
- Be able to work independently from the start as this is a solo position
- At least 2-3 years experience in medical billing, preferably in a pediatric setting
- Knowledge of insurance verification, coding (CPT, ICD-10), and claims processing is critical
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) - Epic strongly preferred
- Ability to utilize health plan web based portals to verify claim status
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Familiarity with HIPAA, OSHA, and pediatric healthcare regulations
