What are the responsibilities and job description for the Change Manager - Temporary - Norwich University position at Norwich University?
Fulfills the mission of Norwich University as it implements the Banner Software As A Service (SAAS) upgrade to the University's backbone information technology system and other initiatives by developing and executing comprehensive management and communication strategies, ensuring smooth transitions, and fostering employee engagement throughout these initiatives. The incumbent will help ensure that the upgrade is implemented effectively, and that the organization can achieve its desired outcomes.
This is a 40 hour per week position. Anticipated end date February 2026.
Essential Functions
- Creates and executes a detailed change management and communication strategy tailored to the needs of stakeholders.
- Collaborates with leadership and stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Gauges employee sentiment and engagement levels regularly through surveys, interviews, and other feedback mechanisms.
- Develops and manages a comprehensive communication plan to ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the transformation process.
- Develops and coordinates training programs and educational materials to support employees through the change process.
- Ensures that employee training is accessible, relevant, and effective.
- Measures the post-implementation change effectiveness by tracking key metrics and gathering feedback.
- Identifies, analyzes, and proactively addresses stakeholder concerns and resistance to change through tailored engagement strategies.
- Develops key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess change adoption, including employee proficiency, system utilization, and user satisfaction, and adjusts strategies accordingly.
- Provides ongoing support to teams and individuals as needed to ensure smooth adoption.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required (business administration, organizational development, or a related field preferred). A master's degree is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may substitute for formal education.
- 5 years of experience in change management, project or program management, organizational development, business analysis, process and program implementation, operational improvement, or closely related experience.
- Proficient in Change Management methodologies and tools (e.g., Prosci, ADKAR, Kotter).
- Experience in developing and executing communication strategies for large-scale organizational changes. Ability to synthesize complex information and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge and track record of applying Change industry best practices. Strong understanding of stakeholder engagement, including resistance management and reinforcement strategies.
- Track record in creating, delivering and reporting on outcomes of change programs
- Analytical skills to conduct impact assessments, track adoption metrics, and measure success.
- Ability to manage multiple parallel workstreams and align them with broader institutional goals.
- Ability to interact at all levels of the company hierarchy and ensure alignment with the overall change plan objectives
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining strong alignment with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented and proactive, with a problem-solving mindset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook) and project management tools.
- Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 15 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
- Work some evening or weekend hours
- Travel as needed (public or private transportation)
Environmental Conditions
- Indoor work at a computer workstation.
- Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
