Fulfills the mission of Norwich University by being responsible for delivering, building, and developing projects of varying size and complexity. The project manager's primary responsibility is coordinating and organizing project activities throughout ITS. This position will work closely with the Directors to ensure projects are well communicated, staffed appropriately, effectively tracked/updated, and are on schedule.
Hybrid work schedule may be authorized.
Essential Functions
- Facilitates among stakeholders and organizational leadership a consensus around the mission and vision of project management to foster a project management-oriented culture and mindset
- Completes project planning and implementation, including assessing needs and setting goals and objectives.
- Participates with relevant staff/committees to determine project requirements.
- Tracks and ensures each project is on schedule and provides notification/escalation.
- Supports, collaborates, and facilitates Project Management at Norwich University, supporting vendor-managed projects.
- Develop, track, and manage change notices and change orders.

Ensures that all stakeholders are kept informed about each project, including:
- ITS management
- ITS technicians
- Customers
- Vendors
- All others involved
- Participates in the ITS Governance process.
- Communicate project plans and updates regularly.
- Leads and/or attends project meetings with stakeholders and/or vendors

Reports project information to the Director of The Project Management Office

- Develops and provides project metrics when applicable/necessary.
- Interfaces with customers to ensure that appropriate testing is done pending implementation.
- Ensures all projects have complete documentation prior to project closure.

- Maintains confidentiality of sensitive or private information.

- Serves on University committees, councils, workgroups, or other designated bodies as assigned.
- Achieves, maintains proficiency in, and utilizes computers, telephones, and other job-related equipment, including related systems and software.
- Speaks, reads, and writes in English.
- Communicates by telephone, email, letter, in person, or other means or device.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- 3 years of project management experience. IT and higher education knowledge and experience preferred.
- PMP certification preferred
- Experience using project management software
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Overall understanding of technologies used - Banner, OnBase, Argos, SharePoint, etc.
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook)
- Able to sit, squat, reach, push, pull, and manipulate related equipment; lift 20 pounds; travel outdoors to various parts of the campus
- Work some evening or weekend hours
- Travel as needed (public or private transportation)
Environmental Conditions
- Indoor work at a computer workstation
- Low level of exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes.
