JOB SUMMARY:
- Norwood Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to serve as the Head Middle School Volleyball Coach for the upcoming 2025 season. The coach will lead our middle school volleyball team, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and fostering a positive sportsmanship culture among our student-athletes. This role presents an excellent opportunity to positively influence the lives of young athletes and contribute to the athletic program at Norwood Middle School.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience coaching within an education-based athletic program
- Preferred certification as a teacher
- Previous playing or coaching experience is preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment
- Completion of a criminal background check (fingerprints)
- Possession of a valid Colorado driver's license
- Willingness to obtain a school district small vehicle operator permit.
- Extra compensation when required to drive the team
COACHES COMPENSATION:
- The compensation for the head middle school volleyball coach is a stipend position, calculated at 5% of the base teacher salary. For the upcoming season, this amounts to $1950.85. Payment will be disbursed at the conclusion of the season.

JOB GOALS:
- Take on the leadership role within the program, guiding student-athletes in the assigned sport, and imparting valuable life lessons that positively impact their physical, social, and emotional well-being.
TRAITS OF AN EFFECTIVE COACH:
- Demonstrates empathy, trustworthiness, accountability, discipline, and adaptability. Serves as a mentor, educator, and adept problem-solver.
- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Accept and implement an education-based athletic approach to Middle/High School athletics.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations of the school, conference, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
- Maintain membership in the appropriate coaches association and participate to ensure school representation.
- Organize, schedule, and supervise practice sessions.
- Supervise the use of equipment in the sport.
- Assist in developing the annual inventory and make recommendations for equipment purchases.
- Organize, distribute, and collect equipment and supplies.
- Regularly inspect equipment and facilities for safety.
- Report scores and disseminate team information for publicity.
- Participate in pre-season and post-season meetings with the Athletics Director.
- Select an assistant coach, subject to approval by the Athletic Director and school board.
- Foster continuity between High School and Middle School teams..
- Ensure only cleared athletes participate.
- Maintain appropriate supervision of the program at all times.
- Establish communication with athletes and parents.
- Coordinate end-of-season awards programs.
- Represent the school professionally.
- Stay current with coaching trends and safety procedures.
- Participate in school and conference meetings.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Activities Director.
