What are the responsibilities and job description for the Healthcare Consultant for Summer Day Camp position at NORY?
NORY is seeking experienced candidates for the seasonal role of Health Care Consultant (HCC) for 3 locations at our STEM Summer Day Program.. The program runs from June-August.
The HCC is responsible for creating and reviewing NORY's health care policy by March and for supervising first aid trainings of on-site health care staff during orientation (Date & Time TBD). The HCC is subsequently a limited on-call position for the duration of the program.
This position is seasonal, renewed annually in January.
Qualifications
The HCC must be a Massachusetts licensed physician, certified nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant, with documented pediatric experience. Strong preference for candidates who have performed similar roles in a camp or school setting.
Responsibilities
- Create, Review and approve the camp’s health care policy initially and seasonally thereafter;
- Review and approve the first aid training of the staff;
- Be available for consultation at all times;
- Develop and sign written orders, including for prescription medication administration, to be followed by the on-site health care supervisor in the administration of their related duties;
- Provide training and tests of competency in the administration of epinephrine auto-injectors, as well as the recognition of signs and symptoms of hyper- and hypoglycemia and appropriate diabetic plan management.
