Basic Function
The Research and Operations Manager will have dual responsibility for donor prospect identification, research, and qualification at NDMU, as well as key donor stewardship initiatives, such as oversight of the University’s endowment stewardship reporting. Primary functions of this position include driving the prospect research process for a highly collaborative and energetic fundraising team; providing proactive identification and research of new prospects by actively mining NDMU’s database of constituents; preparing prospect profiles and verifying wealth screening data for members of the development team and the Office of the President.
Essential Functions
Knowledge: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: Two years’ related experience in fundraising or prospect research required. Minimum of two years’ experience in a non-profit environment is required. Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills are essential. Past experience in higher education preferred. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Skills/Aptitude: Excellent organizational and analytical skills a must. Ability to aggregate, analyze, and synthesize data into user-friendly and concise formats. High degree of proficiency in communication and interpersonal skills and superior customer service skills. Superior discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive and personal data. Ability to work under strict deadlines with a strong, self-driven work ethic and proven ability to focus on a multitude of tasks at once. Ability to work independently and as a team member. Eagerness and enthusiasm for setting and achieving challenging goals. Curiosity for learning and the willingness to take on new projects and acquire new skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to motivate others and the desire to work on a highly collaborative team.

Essential Functions
- Identify new and undiscovered prospects through active and aggressive research activities, utilizing both NDMU’s constituent database and additional resources on philanthropists, influencers, businesses, and foundations in the Baltimore area and Catholic community. This includes review and monitoring of paper and electronic resources that may provide research-related information on NDMU donors and potential prospects.
- Prepare thorough and accurate donor profiles on individuals, corporations, and foundations which include biographical information, giving history, activities with potential wealth capacity and philanthropic support potential, and areas of interest and affiliations.
- Assist with database management and documentation of donor records as needed.
- Using leading best practices, develop, implement and manage NDMU’s annual stewardship plan, including management of the endowment/scholarship reporting, coordinate and assist with stewardship cultivation events, donor best practices, and policies and procedures.
- Support the overall cultivation and stewardship function of the department and University by attending and assisting with donor and community events as needed.
- Schedules and coordinates meetings and appointments and assembles all necessary materials on a daily basis for meetings and events for the IA office team as needed.
- Assists in the management of supplies and office equipment needs for Noyes House and Office of Institutional Advancement
- Provides administrative support for the VPIA in preparation for the Board of Trustees meetings and maintains rosters and minutes for Institutional Advancement Committee and other special committees as assigned
- Records minutes of various committee meetings.
- Oversees scheduling of Noyes House usage, Noyes House parking, and coordinates dining and catering services with Sage Dining, as needed.
- Coordinates Preparation of Institutional Advancement’s procurement requests, reimbursements, and purchasing card receipts process.
- Preforms such similar, comparable, or related duties as may be assigned or required.
