Notre Dame Preparatory School (NDP), a Catholic independent preparatory school for girls in grades 6 - 12, located in Towson, Maryland, seeks a full-time STEAM Director for its STEAM (STEM Arts) Program. The STEAM Director has supervisory responsibilities for faculty, staff and volunteers responsible for STEAM curricular and co-curricular activities. STEAM is one of NDPs Signature Academic Programs. Notre Dame Prep's STEAM program develops students creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial leadership skills through the integration of cutting-edge technology, innovative instructional approaches, and real-world learning experiences. Extracurricular activities, such as the Robotics Club and Coding Club, offer hands-on, engaging activities in which students can apply STEAM learning. The STEAM Director reports to the Principal/Executive Director for Academics and serves as Department Chair for the STEAM Department which includes the Engineering and Computer Science curriculum areas. General Summary:

Notre Dames STEAM Program emphasizes experience-based, hands-on learning as well as a solid presentation of course concepts using a variety of instructional methods. The STEAM Director is responsible for enhancing the 6 - 12 STEAM program. Notre Dame Preparatory School opened an Innovation Wing in 2019 - 2020. The STEAM director has significant responsibilities for the Innovation Wing in regard to facility, faculty and events as they relate to the STEAM Program. Position serves as academic department chair for the STEAM department which includes directly Computer Science & Engineering and indirectly Science, Math and the Arts.

Annual dates for the 10-month position are August 16th to June 15th (as well as attending new employee orientation in mid-August 2025) with additional duties required during summer or school breaks for program planning and development

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Establish and maintain an integrated STEAM program for Middle Level students (Grades 6 8), including Middle Level STEAM Innovate and Design Time (IDT) curriculum and faculty and quarterly STEAM assemblies.

Establish and maintain a certificate STEAM program for Upper-level students including the academic courses and requirements to earn a general STEAM Certificate, as well as, Pathway certificates in Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering and Medicine in consultation with the STEAM pathway faculty leads.

Lead interdisciplinary strategic planning for STEAM program. Manage the delivery of curricular and extra-curricular courses and programs to NDP students. Develop curriculum for STEAM program together with an up-to-date syllabus for each STEAM course and a job description for each position. Collaborate interdepartmentally, with faculty and with industry professionals, to further enhance the STEAM program and its relevance and structure.

Review and develop NDP literature, website, and in-person presentations to ensure accurate and comprehensive presentation of integrated, student-centered, experience-based STEAM program.

As Department Chair, serve as an instructional and pedagogical leader of the Department helping to unite members in both theory and practice; curriculum development and implementation; support classroom teachers in using current and varied instructional methods.

Serve as Departments administrative leader overseeing department logistical needs or concerns and supervising faculty; perform classroom observations. Fulfill responsibilities regarding budget, reports, evaluations, etc., as requested by the Principal and other members of NDP Administration for the STEAM Department, the Upper Level STEAM Program and the Middle Level STEAM program. Assist with hiring of new faculty members, as needed. Recommend professional development for STEAM faculty, staff and volunteers.

In collaboration with Directors of Facilities, Finance, Technology, Principals, Registrar and appropriate department chairs approve: personnel placement for STEAM elective courses, equipment and furniture for the Innovation Wing designated STEAM areas and technology needs. Prepare and oversee annual budget for the STEAM Program.

Maintain on-going communication with faculty and chairs of STEAM departments (science,

technology, art, performing arts, mathematics), reporting and providing necessary and/or requested information.

In collaboration with the Director of Finance, Director of Facilities, Director of the Capital Campaign, and appropriate department chairs, clarify and establish expenditures, including those from designated gifts, to support the Innovation Wing and STEAM curriculum. Work with the Advancement Director to explore, apply for, and manage funding for grants and other opportunities that will further NDPs STEAM program.

Facilitate networking opportunities with other NDP departments, and with STEAM-related corporations, businesses, and institutions. Assist the WIN Director by connecting him/her with STEAM-related local industries and other resources that can provide experiential learning opportunities for NDP students.

Participate in Professional Development opportunities with the aim of maintaining cutting-edge position for NDPs STEAM program. Represent NDP at STEAM-related events. Serve as the routing person for STEAM-related programs, information, opportunities.

A bachelors degree in a STEAM field (such as Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) is required.

A Masters degree in a related field is preferred.

A valid teaching credential or administrative certification in MSDE preferred.

At least 5 years of experience in teaching STEAM subjects at the high school level, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role or in curriculum development.

Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Familiarity with the latest trends and technologies in STEAM education.

Experience in developing and managing STEAM programs or extracurricular activities.

Annual salary is $60,000 to $85,000 based upon degrees and experience.
