Oversees and executes recruitment process ensuring compliance with Tribal Codes and policies by coordinating and participating in the hiring of NHBP Team members. Assist and coordinates training for Team members, Tribal development initiatives, analysis and assessment of preference Team Member training needs; assist and coordinates in design and/or delivery of a variety of training programs for Team Members; supports Human Resources Team and NHBP Government operations as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi reserves the right to change, amend, add, delete and otherwise assign any and all duties, responsibilities, and positions titles as it deems necessary to meet the needs of the government.
- Assists with the recruitment process by placing ads, screening candidates, scheduling and participating in interviews, and conducting reference/background checks.
- Ensures compliance with NHBP’s Selection Policy, Gap Analysis Policy and other Tribal policies, and applicable Tribal and federal laws and regulations.
- Assist with development and implementation of Tribal Government Job Fairs. Represents HR in local job fairs or recruitment activities to promote awareness of employment opportunities.
- Create, set-up, and maintain both electronic and paper human resource files. Assist with HRIS management.
- Assists with onboarding and orientation of new hires.
- Assists with preparation and administration of training programs and maintaining and reporting on training records
- Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of Individual Development Plans for Tribal Members and Team Members.
- Conducts and implements Gap Analyses and/or Career Development Plans in conjunction with Training & Development Manager, Human Resources Director and hiring department.
- Travel to other NHBP facilities at least monthly or as much as otherwise needed or directed.
- Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
- Oversees and administers NHBP’s Job Bank Program
- Provides support and cross train within the Human Resources departments other functional areas as needed or directed
- Participates in NHBP events to support the Tribes initiatives as deemed appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications: An individual must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
- Associate’s degree in business administration, human resources or related field; or two plus years of on-the-job experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position; or some combination of relevant education and experience.
- Ability to obtain Certified THRP (Tribal Human Resource Professional) within one year of employment.
- Ability to work days, nights, and weekends as needed.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license with good driving record; GSA certifiable. Must be able to travel.
- Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
- 3 plus years HR related experience working in Tribal Government.
- Professional HR certification (e.g. PHR – HRCI, CCP/CBP - World at Work, SHRM-CP)
- Certified THRP (Tribal Human Resource Professional)
