Position Summary:
Nourse Farms is a leading player in the plant propagation industry, known for our commitment to excellence in providing high-quality plant stock. Nourse Farms is seeking a highly skilled and experienced manager to lead our facility in Whately, MA logistics operations. The Logistics Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain purchasing and distribution process. They will handle the entire delivery process of products by scheduling both inbound and outbound shipments and constantly monitoring them to make sure each product arrives on time. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth operations and effective communication within the department and across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
· Transportation Coordination: Oversee and manage both inbound and outbound transportation of goods, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
· Route Coordination: Plan and optimize transportation routes, ensuring the quickest and most cost-effective paths are always taken.
· Manage warehouse inventory and keep records of the inventory.
· Software Integration: Implement, manage, and optimize new mapping software to enhance our logistical efficiency. Provide training for team members on new systems.
· Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, negotiating contracts and rates for optimal service and cost-efficiency.
· Export/Import Compliance: Ensure all export and import activities adhere to global shipping regulations, with all required documentation being correctly prepared and filed.
· Outbound Coordination: Manage the dispatch and delivery of products to customers or other sites as per schedule.
· Inbound Coordination: Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods to our facilities.
· Cost Management: Develop, monitor, and manage the logistics budget, with a keen focus on ensuring cost-effective solutions in transportation.
· Team Leadership: Mentor and lead the logistics team, fostering open communication and ensuring coordination in transportation activities.
· Continuous Improvement: Regularly assess logistical processes and procedures, making improvements where necessary and keeping up with industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, related field, or equivalent experience required.
- Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in logistics, with a specific focus on transportation coordination. At least 3 years in a leadership role within a manufacturing, distribution environment, or agriculture environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of export and import regulations and documentation.
- Experience with mapping and route optimization software.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and software swiftly.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership and team management skills with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams. Ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments and other stakeholders. Exceptional negotiation skills.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in varying temperatures.
