About the job

The production shift supervisor will provide operational leadership, ensuring process safety fundamentals are integrated into every task and that Nouryon Life Saving Rules are upheld. The role involves leading daily shift meetings, updating KPI scoreboards, and driving actionable follow-ups. The ideal candidate will guide team decision-making in alignment with business unit values and corporate objectives, support plant initiatives for continuous improvement, and engage shift personnel in root cause problem-solving. A strong commitment to meeting and exceeding Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) policy requirements is essential.

In your future role as Production Shift Supervisor you will

Safety, Health, Environment, and Security

  • Adopt safety of employees, contractors, visitors and community members as the first and foremost responsibility, in compliance with zero-release program.
  • Advocate safe work environment through engagement in safety programs and incident investigations. Incorporate safe work practices in operations and maintenance activities to achieve zero safety incidents.
  • Ensure all operators follow all manufacturing and standard operating procedures.
  • In the event of any incident, take responsibility for first draft preparation of Incident Reports and entry into the incident reporting system. Perform the duties of Incident Commander in the event of an incident at the plant.
  • Perform daily site security and environmental audits to ensure compliance.
  • Supports BBS process through coaching and leading by example.

Quality

  • Review quality data daily, troubleshoot with operators to understand root cause and prevent generating off-spec products.
  • Perform ISO 9002 and RC 14001 audits.
  • Ensure operators follow the ISO 9002 Standard by using proper process procedures and following Standard guidelines for all quality functions pertaining to their task.
  • Operational Excellence - Process Excellence

  • Aptitude to learn new technologies and troubleshoot process related issues using fundamental principles and process understanding.
  • Ability to work with engineers and technicians to design experiments and generate quality data to resolve issues or improve process performance in a reliable and timely manner.
  • Ability to lead technical discussion in Root Cause Problem Solving sessions using standard problem-solving key concepts.
  • Author and update SOPs, process investigations, data analysis summaries, and process requirement specification using MOC process. Must be able to initiate MOC with good justification to get leadership buy-in.
  • Generate process data regarding unit downtime, equipment failures, and process operations that result in low performance. Review performance and downtime reports in Asset Utilization Management for accuracy and clarity. Follow-up with direct report to ensure appropriate actions in a timely manner.
  • Operational Excellence - Operating Schedule

  • Align with the scheduler on priorities for product shipment with respect to manpower and units operation availabilities.
  • Validate production schedule (at least twice weekly) and discuss concerns / changes with the scheduler.
  • Work with the scheduler regularly to develop acceptable, coherent, and business-driven resource schedules.
  • Review purchase and process orders movements executed by operators for accuracy and troubleshoot any problem encountered to resolve or escalate when required.
  • Perform pre-settlement review of all shop floor packets to ensure no unreasonable or unexpected variances are reported.
  • Coach operators on how to properly execute real-time process order transactions in MES system.
  • Ensure process units are operating within schedule and unscheduled downtime are minimized with generation of Performance Gap Report to understand root cause and specify essential steps taken to restore operation.
  • Perform monthly review of Process Order Variance Reports and provide feedback to improve cycle time and BOMs accuracy.
  • Maintenance

  • Communicate daily with Maintenance personnel to coordinate priority with respect to area needs.
  • Plan and manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work required across units.
  • Ensure maintenance work notifications are entered in MES accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administration / Management

  • Be a leader and team player to ensure the success of all assigned personnel through coaching, mentoring, and providing appropriate feedback.
  • Monitor and approve vacation requests insuring that adequate manpower is maintained at all times.
  • Be in frequent contact with other Production Supervisors so that there is a common understanding of the total resource needs of the plant and business needs.
  • Communicate detailed information regarding shift activities and task assignments in shift change reports.
  • Conduct yearly performance reviews and dialog with all assigned personnel.
  • We believe you bring

  • Engineering background with 0-3 year of manufacturing experience and proven record of leadership skills and root cause problem solving through prior job experience, internship, and / or on-campus research.
  • Will consider candidates with Associate degree in Leadership / Management capacity or 7 to 10 years of chemical plant operations experience.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience in a high paced manufacturing setting a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills between the operations team and leadership is very critical.
  • Computer skills - Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP a plus.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • General physical requirements involve the ability to ascend / descend stairs and ladders.
  • Supervise people in various units across the plant within walking distance
  • Ascending, descending, pulling, or pushing
  • Reaching overhead, kneeling, and bending.
  • Stepping over and around piping, pumps and other obstacles.
  • Must be able to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment including, but not limited to, hardhats, safety glasses, goggles, shields, aprons, earplugs, and safety shoes.
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Fit Test and don a respirator in all applicable operations.
  • Work 12 hour shifts plus additional time due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Working in extreme weather circumstances (rain, heat, cold).

    This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Production Manager and based in Fort Worth, Tx
