Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) at a project in Peekskill, NY. The SSHO will be required to perform safety and occupational health management, surveillance, inspections, and safety enforcement for the Contractor. SSHO will be required to manage and oversee safety, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local laws.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of safety management experience on heavy construction projects
- 30-Hour OSHA for construction or equivalent within the last 3 years
- Current OSHA 510 for Construction or equivalent
- Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF) Environmental Management System (EnvMS) Training
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in conducting safety audits, inspections and hazard assessments
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and local safety regulations
Required Duties
- Conduct daily safety and health inspections and maintain a written log which includes area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual date and time of corrections and corrective action taken. Attach safety inspection logs to the Contractors' daily quality control report.
- Conduct incident investigations and complete required reports
- Maintain the OSHA Form 300 and daily production reports for prime and sub-contractors
- Maintain applicable safety reference material on the job site
- Attend the pre-construction conference and progress meetings
- Implement and enforce the Contractor's Health and Safety Plan
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with Contractor's Health and Safety Plan
- Coordinate subcontractor completion of Pre Task Plans, Safe Work Plans, Site Safety Orientations, Toolbox Talks, and required inspection checklists.
