What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Novalis US, LLC?
Duties and Requirements of the Job:
- Perform thorough inspection of production and process setups with defined work orders and parameters, to satisfy customer’s expectation and requirements.
- Conduct inspection of products in production line, including machines setups, to ensure production is meeting all quality criteria and standards. Any failures are to be reported immediately to the Plant Manager, Quality Manager and Floor Supervisor.
- Perform laboratory tests as required to ensure compliance with company and customer standards.
- Log all inspection records and/or registrations to ensure documentation is maintained in an accessible environment.
- Identify all non-conforming material, including raw materials, and formulate corrective action measures to ensure compliance.
- Segregate all testing materials so they are easily identified for testing and/or non-conformity.
- Perform all Quality lab procedures and tests as instructed by the Quality Manager.
- Perform assigned, routine visual inspections and other specified tests on raw materials, goods in process, and finished products.
- Completes all quality documentation for incoming raw materials while adhering to company & industry standards.
- Uses observation and testing to identify faults in materials and manufacturing process.
- Uses statistical methods to test product samples to evaluate quality of full product batch prior to delivery to clients or customers.
- Compares results of inspections and tests to company’s quality standards; and reports failures to Quality Manager for final analysis and action steps.
- Develops, maintains, and posts logs, charts, and forms detailing quality levels, inspection data, and results of special quality studies for review by line mechanics, supervisors, and other production staff.
- Consults with Quality Manager to determine appropriate recommendations and remedies for questionable products.
- Maintains quality records as needed.
- Uses root cause analysis to trace defects to their origin. Read, analyze & interpret all existing data for completeness and accuracy. Report any deficiencies directly to the Quality Manager.
Training, Knowledge and Experience (May Be Required or Preferred, at the discretion of the hiring team)
- High school diploma, technical school education, or equivalent required.
- A working knowledge of quality lab tools and equipment.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related area.
- Must be legally authorized to work in US without a sponsorship now or in the future.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience in the flooring industry preferable (hardwood or LVT a plus)
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Advanced experiences with Microsoft office 365 and other office tools.
- Relocation package will not be offered for this position.
Working Conditions
- Occasionally lifts and / or carries up to 40 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around, under and about factory and / or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent sitting, standing, bending, lifting and majority of the time will be on your feet.
- Works within a manufacturing facility, office and laboratory setting and may be exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals.
- Eye protection required.
- Hearing protection required.
- Steel toed shoes required on manufacturing and warehouse floor.
