Position Overview

The Novelis Bay Minette, AL team is looking for a Health and Safety Leader. This role is responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe working environment across the manufacturing facility. This position will report to the EHS Manager of the Bay Minette facility.

Responsibilities:

• Embrace the Novelis Safety Absolutes to build a zero-injury culture and the Novelis cultural beliefs of Be Authentic, Say Anything, Be Open and Built Trust.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and Novelis Performance Standards
• Collect and evaluate information on identified EHS issues and proposes recommendations/alternatives based on specialized knowledge and experience.
• Oversee Occupational Health & Wellness and Injury Case Management
• Conduct incident investigations and develop corrective and preventative action plans.
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs that meet OSHA and Novelis requirements.
• Audit compliance of major EHS programs to legal and corporate requirements
• Oversee all Occupational Health and Wellness programs, such as Hearing Conservation, Fitness for Duty, Respiratory Program, Heat Stress programs.
• Coordinate and maintain records of all EHS trainings required by OSHA and Novelis

Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or ten years plus of equivalent experience
• 5 to 7 years of experience in health and safety management in heavy manufacturing setting
• Strong problem solving and decision-making, interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in ISO 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Leadership/team management experience
• CSP – Certified Safety Professional
• Certified Industrial Hygienist certification

Location Profile

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile AL and 45 miles west of Pensacola FL and is expected to create approximately 1000 high-paying advanced careers in modern manufacturing. This highly advanced rolling and recycling facility will be the first of its kind. It will primarily serve our customers in the beverage can and automotive markets.
