The Role
Novo Surgical is seeking a full-time sales representative in the Chicagoland area to sell into hospital and surgery center customers who are high-volume purchasers of surgical instruments. The company is well-positioned to sell into this market, holding national group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts which Chicagoland health systems are all members to, as well as having an existing book of business in the territory. Novo Surgical is looking to grow its footprint by transitioning from independent to direct representation, with a full-time, focused sales effort.
Surgical instruments is a competitive category that requires regular, routine face time with customers to be value-additive in their operations and to ultimately win business. Ideal candidates will be willing to spend significant time in sterile processing departments (and sometimes operating rooms), assisting their customers and identifying needs.
- Serve as a sales representative to hospitals and surgery centers
- Cultivate sales relationships with key decision makers, including sterile processing managers, operating room coordinators and purchasing personnel
- Serve as primary contact to coordinate customer needs, quotations, deliveries and evaluations
- Educating customers about the product portfolio and features, as well in-servicing them on relevant topics such as device cleaning and maintenance
- Assist customers with sterile processing department objectives, including efficiency initiatives, inventory assessments and education/training programs
- Target health system corporate contacts (top-down) and facility-level personnel (bottom-up)
- Collaborate with management by providing regular market feedback and advising on strategy for:
- Promotional offers and marketing/branding opportunities
- Creation of literature – case studies, product brochures, etc.
- Channels for additional value creation, including new product lines and services
- Pricing tiers / contract structure
- Opportunities for fulfillment of unmet customer needs
- Regional contracting opportunities with facilities or healthcare systems
- Attend conferences and tradeshows to build the brand, promote products and develop leads
- Meet with management to review sales progress, sales planning and marketing/branding efforts
Requirements
- Candidate must be located in Chicagoland area
- Relationships with decision makers at hospitals, including central sterile processing, materials management, purchasing and operating room personnel in local market
- 3-5 years of experience in medical device sales, ideally selling into sterile processing
- Proximity to major metropolitan area in local market
- Vehicle to be able to cover the entire geographical area
- Familiarity with Salesforce

Compensation & Benefits
- Annual base salary commensurate with experience ($55,000 to $65,000)
- Aggressive, industry-leading commission schedule (~15-16% of sales)
