Job description : Job Summary Responsible for the organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty / staff, and general effectiveness of the MLS Education program; Participates in the budget preparation process for the MLS Education program Responsible for maintaining NAACLS accreditation of the program. Has regular and consistent contact with students, faculty and program personnel. Plans and coordinates all student learning activities including lectures, tests, and grades. Demonstrates understanding by following all policies and procedures established by hospital and laboratory departments. Assists in the teaching and training of fellow employees and students performing laboratory tasks. Compliance with and documentation of all regulatory standards, policies, and procedures. The MLS program director must have a faculty or clinical appointment at the sponsoring institution. Uses good problem-solving skills and judgment in dealing with problem situations Qualifications : EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES : At least three years teaching experience. Masters or Doctoral degree. Bachelors degree from a U.S. accredited college or university with a major in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a chemical, physical or biological science is required. ASCP-BOC or ASCPi -BOC generalist certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or nationally recognized certification / licensure for international or non-US programs. Current Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners Clinical Laboratory Scientist License is required. Knowledge of education methods and administration as well as current NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures. BLS within 30 days of employment is required.
