Job description : The Controls Technician is responsible in ensuring the proper operation and maintenance of various control systems used in commercial, industrial and manufacturing settings. They will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing control systems and associated equipment to ensure they function efficiently and safely. This work is crucial in maintaining productivity, quality, and safety in the production processes.
- Job Responsibilities :
- Installation and Commissioning : Installing, setting up, and configuring control systems, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), sensors, actuators, and other automation equipment.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics : Identifying and diagnosing issues and malfunctions in control systems and related components. Analyzing system logs, error codes, and signals to determine the root cause of problems.
- Repair and Maintenance : Performing maintenance tasks and repairs on control systems to ensure proper functioning and prevent breakdowns. This includes replacing faulty components, updating software / firmware, and calibrating instruments.
- Programming : Writing, modifying, and testing control logic programs to achieve desired system functionality. This involves working with programming languages such as ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, or other specific vendor programming languages.
- System Upgrades and Improvements : Assisting in upgrading and optimizing control systems to enhance productivity, efficiency, and safety. This may involve integrating new technologies, components, or process improvements.
- Documentation : Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and changes made to control systems. Creating technical reports and manuals as needed.
- Safety and Compliance : Ensuring that control systems meet safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Implementing safety protocols and conducting safety checks.
- Training and Support : Providing training and support to operators, maintenance staff, and other team members on control system operation and troubleshooting.
- Collaborative Work : Cooperating with engineers, electricians, and other technical staff to coordinate projects and resolve complex issues.
- Continuous Learning : Staying up-to-date with advancements in control system technology and industry trends. Participating in training programs and workshops to improve technical skills.
- Electrical Knowledge : Understanding electrical circuits and systems, as control systems often interact with electrical components and power distribution. Qualifications :
- Qualification :
- Niagara N4 nice to have
- At least 5 years of relevant experience
- IT background helps
- Expertise in low voltage cable Schneider electric
- Knowledge in Building Automation Control
- Understanding of control theory, automation technologies, programming language, electrical systems, logic, and mechanical equipment
- Willing to work overtime when needed
