INTRO TO POSITION
We at the Service Desk provide and support the computer and mobile equipment that NPR staff rely on. We manage the organization’s computers and collaborate with other teams to ensure they are operational for NPR broadcasts. As a Service Desk Technician you will work as part of the IT Operations team to support technology and NPR staff as the first point of contact resolving and triaging requests. We operate 24/5 with an on-call rotation during weekend overnights. The role will focus on resolving issues with applications, hardware, accounts, and connectivity as well as helping with reporting and projects.

Hourly Rate: The U.S. based anticipated hourly rate for this opportunity is $28.85 - $33.65 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rate NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Responsibilities
- Prepare new computers using SCCM imaging for PCs and Kandji imaging for Macs
- Ensure user data is transferred to new equipment
- Troubleshoot issues with OS, applications, network, and peripheral hardware
- Install, test, maintain, and support PCs and laptops, peripherals, printers, operating systems and applications
- Maintain inventory of machines in the project and their replacement status
- Manage shipping of equipment and utilize remote connection tools to assist remote users
- Coordinate with end-users to schedule meetings, assist with setup, and perform data migrations
- Report regularly on the status of a project
- Identify improvements to project delivery and workflow
- Correspond with NPR employees and other departments
- Coordinate with asset manager to assign computers to staff
- Follow up with employees to answer questions about new equipment
- Educate end-users on hardware and software changes
- Adhere to Service Desk policies and procedures and all organizational security standards
EDUCATION
- Bachelor or Associate degree preferred with a concentration in Information Technology, Computer Science, or direct career experience in information technology disciplines, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certifications: A , Network , MCP or ACMT certifications desired
- Exceptional customer service/interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience configuring hardware and software for Mac and PC
- Disciplined approach to troubleshooting hardware, OS, and applications
- Knowledge of data migration methods between different storage mediums including local network shares, local media, and cloud storage including Google Drive and MS OneDrive
- Ability to operate in a deadline-driven environment and successfully prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Must be able to work cooperatively with others as part of a team, hold own work to high standards, and inspire others to do the same
- Self-starter, detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills
- Prior Service Desk experience in an enterprise environment
- Experience with remote access troubleshooting and PC imaging software
- Experience managing accounts with Active Directory
- Experience with Windows administration and imaging using SCCM
- Experience with Apple administration and imaging
- This is a temporary (6-month) full time position.
