Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse for short term contracts or substitute as needed. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive health services to students, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being. This role is crucial in promoting a safe and healthy school environment, managing student health records, and responding to medical emergencies. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year LPN work experience , and experience with pediatrics and/or school nursing will be given priority. Background checks and drug screens are required.

Duties
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation for each student, including health assessments and immunization records; document in Infinite Campus
- Provide care for students with chronic illnesses or conditions, including infectious disease care.
- Conduct health screenings and assessments to identify potential health issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare professionals to develop individualized health plans for students.
- Respond to medical emergencies, utilizing knowledge of emergency medicine and anatomy.
- Educate students and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene practices and disease prevention.
- Assist in the management of school health programs and initiatives.
- Perform procedures such as injections, catherization, g-tube, etc.
- Train core school staff on care for students with chronic illnesses, daily medication administration, and emergency medications.
Requirements
- Valid, unrestricted nursing license in the state of Kentucky or Compact State
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and systems relevant to school health services.
- Proficient in medication administration and medical documentation practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations within the school community.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing student health records.
- Previous experience in school nursing or pediatric nursing is preferred.
