What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coach Program Coordinator position at NRA?
LOCATION: Fairfax, VA onsite Monday - Friday
SUMMARY: Provide assistance to the Manager in the development, administration, maintenance, evaluation and improvement of NRA Youth and Coach Education Programs. Position subject to pre-employment background checks.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Within departmental guidelines market the programs under Youth and Coach Education, establish long-term goals and develop a strategy to enhance growth of the programs.
2. Provide leadership development of NRA Coaches from the 'grass roots' up through the national and international program levels within departmental guidelines.
3. Coordinate and administer NRA Coach School programs (both American and international sports) with program partners (USA Shooting, Amateur Trapshooting Association, National Skeet Shooting Association, National Sporting Clays Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program, etc.) within departmental guidelines.
4. Conduct Coach Education and National Coach Development Staff training within departmental guidelines.
5. Develop and improve Coaching education materials. This includes writing and editing the coach curriculum and provide administrative support to Coach Schools.
6. Update and revise, within departmental guidelines, NRA Home Air Gun Program and the Youth Programs websites.
7. Administer and update within departmental guidelines the NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program, associated materials and the Marksmanship website.
8. Represent, within departmental guidelines, the NRA at national meetings, trade shows, competitions and training programs as directed by department manager.
9. Administer and support NRA National Youth programs such as Shooting Sports Ambassador Program, Outstanding Achievement Youth Award, and other activities related to youth development and recognition.
10. Assist in promoting NRA Youth Activities to other NRA divisions and publications in a timely manner.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.
SCOPE: High visibility with Youth Programs staff, Education & Training Division staff and other NRA divisions; youth serving organizations such as BSA, 4-H, FFA Royal Rangers, NHSRA, etc.; NRA members and the public. Position requires frequent and national travel, including weekends. The ability to lift and carry approximately 50 lbs. of materials is required. Position functions within a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: B.A. or B.S. degree required. Equivalent experience or demonstrated skills may be considered in lieu of degree. A strong shooting sports background with experience teaching firearm safety and basic marksmanship required. Expert knowledge of firearms and their operation required. Certification as an NRA Certified Coach or Instructor in one or more disciplines required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Demonstrated initiative and creativity coupled with strong leadership and organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks within established time lines essential. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management essential. Working knowledge of computer software, specifically word processing, graphics, spreadsheet and general database functions required.
