NSC IS HIRING QUALIFIED WELDING SUPERVISOR WITH HOTWORK (STRUCTURAL/PIPE) EXPERIENCE SUPPORTING NAVY SHIPBUILDING AND REPAIR OPERATIONS FOR A 1 YEAR CONTRACT.
PER DIEM OF $130 AVAILABLE FOR NON LOCAL CANDIDATES
PLEASE NOTE:
MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WORKING ON LCS PLATFORM (LITTORAL COMBAT SHIPS) AND KNOWLEDGE OF STRUCTURAL WELDING, FITTING, OR PIPE SYSTEMS IS REQUIRED FOR THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT.
POSITION SUMMARY
The focus for this position is supporting hot work for pipe hanger arrangements with secondary less critical work involving outfitting and minor electrical on LCS class ships.
This position may be responsible for leading production crews of approximately (20) skilled trades workers in fabrication, outfitting, testing processes, and sea trials/inspections utilized during ship repair process, in alignment with contract specifications.
The SUPERVISOR will be responsible for maintaining accurate production reports, data entry of jobs and specifications, tracking of workers' hours, and managing test and inspection documentation, specifically working with sea trial cards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Responsibilities include:
- Manage daily operations for ongoing LCS ship repair availabilities
- Collaborate with leadership to manage overall Safety, Cost Productivity and Schedule Performance
- Follow all company Work Instructions and (SOP) Standard Operation Procedures
- Drive Hotwork activities including aluminum and steel welding and pipe welding to improve productivity and performance
- Manage digital documentation and paperwork on a daily basis, generate production and inspection reports using various computer programs
- Build trust and unit cohesion through honesty, fairness and respect. A servant working leader to the crew and leads under them
- Maintain strict discipline and adherence to Safety and Security policies
- Enforce all company policies and work rules
- Liaison between Prime and Subcontractors overseeing the availability, interface with US Navy at checkpoints, inspections, manning meetings.
- Ensure key milestones are met throughout the project
Duties include:
- Work with planning in production control projects and projections for upcoming LCS ship repair availabilities
- Enter labor charges into payroll system daily and manage timekeeping on a weekly basis in Microsoft Excel
- Process and update sea trial cards and inspection reports
- Manage Work Orders and reports accurate progress to planning
- Take ownership of parts and manage materials assigned to your Work Orders
- Monitor and report on performance metrics to the Area Manager/Superintendent
- Plan overtime and schedule resources to support assigning and monitoring work assignments of crew and leads, accessing physical progress on a daily basis
- Interface with crew and lead daily to set clear performance goals, objectives and expectations
- Clear obstacles that are effecting performance
- Complete Safety Observations as required
- Resolve disputes, misunderstandings, enforces policy and disciplines as appropriate
- Represent the company at meetings and inspections with Prime, Subcontractors, and US Navy as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years shipyard supervisory or working foreman experience with extensive experience in hot work (structural and pipe welding)
- Proficient computer skills, including accurate data entry in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required.
