What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Reviewer II Product Certification position at NSF International?
NSF/QAI is seeking to add a Technical Reviewer II QAI Organics to its growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for determining the required compliance testing and evaluation. As well as document testing results as required for certification or registration services.
Principal Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs reviews of certification documentation (customer application, system plans, product profile forms, inspection and test reports etc.) against established Standards and internal policies/guidelines to determine certification compliance.
- Review materials (crop and livestock production inputs, product ingredients, processing aids, etc.) to determine compliance with organic standards including classification of materials as agricultural, non-synthetic and synthetic.
- Determines required compliance testing and evaluation; documents testing results as required for certification or registration services.
- Serve as mentor/trainer and provide technical support for Account Managers to improve technical understanding, competency, and application of regulations, policies and procedures.
- Contact clients to review findings and outstanding issues and provide technical support by clarifying any technical and regulatory requirements and issues as needed.
- Create certificates, non-compliance letters, product summaries, and other certification documents as directed to allow compliant clients to proceed through the certification cycle or to identify issues in need of adverse action via Quality.
- Evaluate performance of organic inspectors and provide feedback to the administrative/inspection team and Sr. Review Team.
- Actively participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with development and/or updating SOPs and/or client forms to maintain efficient workflow for inspection and review department as needed.
- Represent QAI at industry events such as trade shows, conferences and meetings.
- Conduct audits/inspections or certification decisions as assigned.
- Support new business development efforts through program, quality system, and certification documentation development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree
- Working knowledge and experience of USDA National Organic Program (NOP) or other International organic standards and regulations (LPO, COR, EU, CARTV, etc.) and familiarity with applying organic certification procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts.
- Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: conventional crop, livestock, processing, or handling procedures and methods.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated project and time management skills.
- Ability to travel occasionally for meetings and events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, food science, animal science or a related area of science.
- Experience in organic products regulatory compliance Successful completion of IOIA training program or equivalent and/or IOIA accreditation/advanced training.
- Five years of experience as an inspector or one to two years of experience with regulatory procedures, preferably in the organic sector.
- Fluent Spanish language skills
- Scientific background.
- Process improvement experience.
Salary Range: $49,000 - $83,000 USD
Salary Range: $48,000 - $82,000 CAD
The total pay range takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed pay range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At NSF, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the pay range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
