We are seeking an Automation Specialist to join our team to support our Global Labs Division. As an automation specialist you would be responsible for contributing to the success of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement projects under the direction of the automation & innovation staff. The ideal candidate would be creative, innovative, and possess technical aptitudes in industrial & laboratory control systems, processes, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data acquisition, and instrumentation. Experience with CAD software and lean processes is preferred.

We are seeking an Automation Specialist to join our team to support our Global Labs Division. As an automation specialist you would be responsible for contributing to the success of innovation, automation, and continuous improvement projects under the direction of the automation & innovation staff. The ideal candidate would be creative, innovative, and possess technical aptitudes in industrial & laboratory control systems, processes, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), data acquisition, and instrumentation. Experience with CAD software and lean processes is preferred.
Responsibilities
Key Job Responsibilities would include: (non-exhaustive)
- Construct new automation systems and/or contribute to continuous improvement projects under direction of Innovation & Automation staff.
- Contribute to success of continuous improvement and automation projects as part of a diverse cross functional team of business units, laboratories, and stake holders.
- Perform technical troubleshooting to diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial machinery, process controllers, and/or industrial control systems.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain data acquisition systems and instrumentation systems for monitoring and controlling processes.
- Document, Conduct, and/or co-develop preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Associate Degree in related field or equivalent experience in engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field(s).
- Minimum 2-5 years of related experience in related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in troubleshooting industrial machinery and equipment in laboratory setting, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, pump, and motor systems.
- Knowledge of low & high voltage electrical systems, including 3 phase AC.
- In-depth knowledge of industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMI (Human-Machine Interface), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
- Familiarity with various programming environments such as: Ladder Logic, LabView, G-Code, Python, C, Lua
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Proficiency in AUTOCAD software for interpreting and creating engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledgeable and experienced with laboratory QA/QC plans, manuals, and procedures.
- Excellent communication and cross functional teamwork abilities.
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours when needed to complete projects.
- Travel may be required.
