As the Specialist I in our Sample Management Lab, you will perform in the capacity of user expert on Beaker/Labware, Insight/iPulse and related applications including working knowledge of Sentry. You will assume the role of log in specialist for North American lab jobs. You will assist manager in maintaining operational performance of Sample Management Office.

You will assume the role of log in specialist for North American lab jobs. You will assist manager in maintaining operational performance of Sample Management Office.
Responsibilities
- Serve as instructor and liaison for Sample Manager/Sentry Center of Excellence by providing onsite training at all global NSF laboratories as requested.
- Serve as mentor to NSF Ann Arbor Sample Management Specialists with initial training for new employees, and training on advanced functions for existing employees and training on basic functions to employees external to SM.
- Perform QC on logins of new employees and to ensure logins are completed accurately as follow up on training.
- Perform job log ins for all supported NSF programs.
- Perform all job maintenance on jobs. Editing test codes, descriptions and date.
- Create all test codes used by the lab.
- Assist and/or implement Sample Management Lean initiatives to completion, as well as, represent Sample Management in the Lean initiatives of other departments.
- Assist Manager in maintaining operational performance of Sample Management Office through work scheduling, tracking of performance metrics, responding to status inquiries, problem resolution and maintaining documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Technical training on computers and experience utilizing a database system.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications (e.g., MS Word, Excel, Access, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting and communications skills.
- Associate’s degree in computer sciences, business, sciences or another applicable field.
- Practical experience related to NSF’s services and laboratories.
- Direct experience with a LIMS system.
- Familiarity with microbiology, chemistry, engineering or environmental health in a laboratory setting.
- Required to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
- Light physical effort required (ability to move – 10-25 lbs. from one area to another).
- Work performed in an office environment

- Ability to travel up to 25% of time domestically and internationally.
