Job Overview:
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for managing the shipping of domestic and international orders, with a particular focus on handling hazardous materials (HAZMAT). The Shipping Clerk ensures all orders are packaged securely to prevent damage, include appropriate and accurate paperwork, and shipped promptly and accurately.
Responsibilities:
- Creates and verifies correct shipping labels (HAZMAT). Follows Safety Data Sheets (SDS)detailed instructions on proper shipping of various HAZMAT products.
- Prepares and processes shipping documents for domestic and international shipments, including hazardous material.
- Ships all orders through QuickBooks, prints packing slips, COC’s, Certifications and prepares for final inspection.
- Coordinates with carriers to arrange pickups and deliveries, ensuring compliance with all regulations. Maintains records of customer shipping preferences with freight forwarders and ensures those instructions are followed.
- Helps check packages to prevent damage during transit, using appropriate materials and methods.
- Ensures accurate labeling and documentation for all shipments, including customs paperwork for international orders.
- Tracks and monitors shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolves issues that arise during transit.
- Maintains shipping records and updates inventory systems as needed.
- Stays informed about changes in shipping regulations and best practices, especially regarding hazardous materials.
- Assists with general cleaning and maintaining a clean and safe workspace, workstations and warehouse.
- Adheres to NADCAP, AS9100 & ASA-100 quality standards
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong knowledge of domestic and international shipping requirements, regulations, and customs is required.
- Previous experience in hazardous material shipping and logistics in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to manage time efficiently and manage workload within firm deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written (email) communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
