The Underwriter will be responsible for daily contact with agents, within the P&C marketplace, discussing risks, negotiating on pricing, coverage, acceptability and providing/requesting information. In this position, you will communicate with marketing representatives responding to inquiries regarding service, risk evaluation, questions on procedures, rates, premium evaluation, and service.
**This is a hybrid position, 2-3 days onsite at the Conshohocken, PA Home Office.
Responsibilities
- Generate, underwrite and analyze accounts.
- Risk selection by qualifying leads and identifying target market.
- Communicate with brokers for new and renewal business.
- Price and issue multiple quotes within selected markets.
- Develop and maintain strong broker relationships, including visitation.
- Thorough documentation of underwriting files.
- Monitor claim activity and reporting.
- Work closely with leaders in negotiation and handling of larger accounts.
- Prepare thorough and succinct referrals to leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of commercial property & casualty underwriting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in risk management or related field, preferred.
- Multi-line P&C background.
- Ability to develop and foster carrier and broker relationships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Aptitude to negotiate, influence and close deals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- P&C license required, or to be obtained within the first 90 days of employment.
