Oversite of warehouse operations for shipping, receiving, and the delivery of material to production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishes standard workflows and procedures for warehouse material personnel.
- Assigns workloads and allocates resources based on staffing and production needs.
- Responsible for warehouse inventory accuracy, coordinates cycle counts, investigates inventory variances, and implements effective countermeasures.
- Communicates part issues and shortages to appropriate departments and management.
- Maintains 5S/3D practices in the warehouse.
- Develops and implements departmental goals, action plans and objectives.
- Supervises, trains and develops staff.
- Completes performance evaluations and initiates disciplinary action.
- Participates in employment interviewing and hiring decisions.
- Leads and participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- 1 - 3 years previous experience in warehouse supervision, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience with an ERP system using bar code scanning and sending ASNs to automotive customers, preferred.
- Strong computer and math skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well cross-functionally and communicate with internal and external parties.
- Ability to supervise, motivate, coach, counsel and train.
- Ability to effectively create and maintain a teamwork environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommend effective corrective action.
- Ability to organize, plan, allocate resources and prioritize to meet multiple overlapping and competing deadlines and strict timelines.
- Strict attention to safety.
- Ability to initiate and lead continuous improvement activities.
- Flexibility to work overtime or alternative shifts as needed.
- Previous experience in automotive manufacturing or in a multi-cultural environment a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 15 pounds regularly and up to 45 pounds occasionally, including lifting materials on or off the forklift.
- Standing & Walking: Ability to stand for extended periods and walk long distances, often on concrete or uneven surfaces.
- Repetitive Motion: Capable of performing repetitive tasks, including grasping, lifting, twisting, and operating controls of the forklift.
- Hand-Eye Coordination: Strong hand-eye coordination to safely operate the forklift and manipulate heavy materials or loads.
- Fine Motor Skills: Ability to use manual dexterity to operate levers, buttons, and controls.
- Vision & Attention to Detail: Good peripheral vision and depth perception to maneuver the forklift and ensure safe operations, including reading gauges and safety indicators.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to maintain focus and physical energy throughout the workday, which may include handling loads, stacking, and organizing materials.
- Balance & Mobility: Must have good balance and be able to move freely in tight spaces while operating the forklift.
- Environmental Conditions: Ability to work in various conditions including varying temperatures, exposure to manufacturing oils and fluids and moderate noise levels.
- Safety Gear: Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed boots, as required.
