Basic Job Functions:
The Purchasing Manager directs and coordinates activities of teammates engaged in purchasing and procurement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: leading and developing the purchasing team; developing and implementing a division purchasing strategy that achieves long term value; establishing and developing key vendor relations; participating in inter-division procurement activities; coordinating with operating departments on cost savings and improved processes; and negotiating and enforcing Nucor’s commercial and legal contract terms and conditions.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Leadership/supervisory experience
