Basic Job Functions:
The EAF Lead responsibilities include safely overseeing all aspects of producing quality steel from the Electric Arc Furnace. This includes day to day operation of that unit, understanding costs associated with steelmaking, scheduling and assisting maintenance during downtime, and helping coordinate the flow of the Melt Shop. This individual is also responsible for continuous development of themselves and the team working under their guidance. Working a rotating shift including nights, weekends, holidays, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime is required.
Nucor Steel West Virginia is Nucor's new sheet mill with advanced steelmaking capabilities. This is a greenfield project, which is estimated to be fully operational in 2026. The new steel mill will employ 800 full-time teammates producing up to 3 million tons per year at one of the most technologically advanced sheet mills. This advanced manufacturing facility is to be located along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years EAF experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Leadership experience.
- DC experience
- Understanding of the LMF/ VTD process
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
