POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Office Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative
operations of the institution’s business office. This role ensures the efficient management of
student accounts, payroll, and general accounting functions, while maintaining compliance with
institutional policies and higher education regulations. The manager collaborates with academic
departments, student services, and administration to support the financial health and operational
effectiveness of the institution.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, monthly reports, and year-end
- Budget Oversight: Assist in the development and management of departmental budgets,
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations,
- Team Leadership: Supervise and manage business office staff, providing guidance and
- Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with academic, administrative, and
purchasing, and financial aid disbursement.
- System Management: Maintain and manage institutional financial systems (e.g.,
upgrades and implementations.
- Audit Preparation: Lead and coordinate preparation for internal and external audits,
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Must have extensive knowledge of accounting principles, software
applications, research designs, sampling, statistical analysis and ability to interpret data.
Experience working with a broad spectrum of grants.
Skills: Must possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Applicants must be able to multi-task. Candidates must possess computer skills relevant
to classroom and educational administrative setting. Including Word, Excel and
PowerPoint. Capability to create and present data reports.
Abilities: Must exhibit excellent leadership capability. Must be able to perform assigned
duties with minimal supervision. Must be able to establish effective working relationships
with students, faculty, staff and outside agencies.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree required. 3 plus years work experience in
accounting or finance work setting.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in finance with three to five years’
experience working with grants. Experience working with federal grant funding along
with managing various financial accounts.
