Garcia Foods specializes in high-quality, authentic Mexican-style food products for retail and food service. Our refrigerated and frozen products have a short shelf life and operate on a just-in-time (JIT) production and distribution schedule, ensuring freshness and efficiency.
Job Summary
We are seeking a Scheduler & Warehouse Inventory Manager to oversee both production scheduling and warehouse inventory management. This role is critical to maintaining efficient supply chain operations, ensuring that production meets demand while minimizing waste and storage constraints. The ideal candidate will have experience in food manufacturing, inventory control, JIT scheduling, and transportation logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling
Develop and manage daily and weekly production schedules to align with customer orders, inventory levels, and JIT requirements.
Coordinate with production, procurement, and sales teams to adjust schedules based on demand fluctuations and raw material availability.
Monitor production capacity and proactively address bottlenecks to ensure timely order fulfillment.
Work with quality assurance and food safety teams to ensure compliance with refrigeration and shelf life standards.
Communicate production schedules clearly to the manufacturing team.
Warehouse Inventory Management
Oversee receiving, storage, and distribution of refrigerated and frozen products, maintaining FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory practices.
Track and analyze inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock that could lead to waste. Analyze and research inventory variances.
Implement inventory control procedures, including cycle counts and audits, to ensure accuracy.
Collaborate with logistics teams to optimize warehouse space and streamline outbound shipments.
Maintain compliance with food safety regulations and cold storage best practices.
Shipping & Truck Scheduling
Plan and schedule inbound and outbound truck shipments, ensuring timely deliveries to retail and food service customers.
Coordinate with freight carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and internal teams to optimize transportation schedules.
Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and other shipping regulations for refrigerated and frozen goods.
Monitor and troubleshoot delivery delays, transportation issues, and cost control measures.
Required Competencies
Understanding of JIT production, perishable food logistics, cold chain management, inventory flow and transportation scheduling.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles for efficiency improvements.
Understanding of truck scheduling, freight logistics, DOT / FMSCA regulations, and cold chain transportation best practices.
Regulatory Compliance : Familiarity with FDA, USDA, HACCP food safety requirements, and shipping regulations for refrigerated / frozen goods.
Experience working with Mexican style food products or refrigerated / frozen food production.
Strong problem solving skills - Ability to analyze data, forecast demand, and optimize scheduling and inventory processes.
Capability to prioritize and plan efficiently and effectively, handle multiple tasks accurately and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong ability to coordinate between departments, vendors, and customers. Flexibility within a diverse organization is a must.
Leadership skills and ability to direct workflow, manage others and be an effective decision maker.

Experience and Qualifications
High School or GED equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum 3 to 5 years in production scheduling, inventory management, or supply chain operations within food manufacturing or distribution
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in English; Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Bilingual in English & Spanish (preferred but not required).
Proficiency in inventory management software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel. Sage 100 Experience is a plus.
Valid driver's license as well as forklift and lift truck certification or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of employment.
Work Environment
Fast paced food production and warehouse environment with frequent interaction with cross functional teams (production, sales, logistics, and quality assurance).
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office and warehouse environment with prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk working on a computer.
Frequently works in warehouse / plant in heat / cold conditions and required use of personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
