Position Description
Farmington Public Schools has an opening at West Woods Upper Elementary School for a full time, school year .5 District Nursing Supervisor / .5 School Nurse.
General Description: This position will work half time at WWUES as a school nurse with half time duties as the Nursing Supervisor for the district.
The Farmington Public Schools Nursing Supervisor (.5) oversees the District’s school health and nursing program and staff, which currently consists of seven building-based school nurses, one District-wide floating nurse, and two part-time health office clerks. This position oversees the implementation of Board policy and regulations related to health. The Nursing Supervisor serves as a resource to, and as liaison between and among, school nurses, health office clerks, students and their families, administrators, faculty and staff in matters related to school health, wellness and safety. This position includes the preparation of reports, scheduling of meetings, and coordination of health and screening programs.
The School Nurse implements Board of Education policy and regulations related to health. This position is responsible for instructing and assisting students in maintaining good physical, mental, and social health. The role of the School Nurse was created for the purpose(s) of supporting school staff in assessing the health needs of students, developing emergency care plans and individual health plans. Complying with the laws relating to student health, including parental and guardian consent; providing appropriate care of ill, medically fragile and/or injured students; providing health information and serving as a resource to parents, guardians, teachers, staff, and administrators; and identifying health problems for referral for proper treatment.

- Candidates should hold a R.N. (Registered Nurse) degree and be licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut. BS in Nursing preferred.

Public health experience, specifically in an education environment, contributes to overall performance.
Ability to establish and maintain a good rapport with students and staff.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in pediatrics, public health, and/or med surg.
CPR certification
Starting Date: Immediately
Work Schedule: One hundred eighty (180) school days and four (4) preparatory days prior to the official opening day of school. Nurse : seven (7) hours per day
Salary: Nurse’s salary scale $55,412 - $67,732 commensurate with experience with additional $5,000 stipend as Nursing Supervisor
