Job Summary
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the corporation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, optimizing revenue cycle management, and maintaining compliance with healthcare financial regulations. This role will play a critical part in financial planning, budgeting, and strategic decision-making to support the growth and stability of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and healthcare financial policies.
Manage financial audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Develop and monitor annual budgets for both clinical sites.
Conduct financial forecasting and cash flow management to optimize operational efficiency.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and growth initiatives.
Revenue Cycle Management
Oversee billing, coding, and collections processes to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement.
Work closely with clinical and administrative teams to optimize revenue cycle efficiency.
Analyze payer mix, reimbursement rates, and financial performance of services to identify opportunities for revenue enhancement.
Operational & Compliance Oversight
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
Implement and enforce financial controls and procedures to prevent fraud and financial mismanagement.
Assist in contract negotiations with vendors, insurance providers, and third-party payers.
Strategic Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor a small finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of financial accountability.
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop financial strategies that align with the corporation’s mission and growth plans.
Provide financial training and support to clinic managers and staff as needed.
Qualifications & Skills Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within healthcare or a multi-site clinical practice.
Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle management, and medical billing processes.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and practice management systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Athenahealth).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and healthcare compliance regulations.
Preferred:
Experience with financial operations in a private practice, nursing facility, or outpatient clinic setting.
Familiarity with financial aspects of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance reimbursement.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinical and administrative teams.
