Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated Infection Control Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this crucial role, you will contribute significantly to the development and execution of our infection prevention and control policies aimed at managing infections and communicable diseases among patients and staff. Your expertise will help establish a robust system for identifying, reporting, investigating, and controlling infection-related issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement infection prevention program goals, objectives, policies, and procedures aligned with the facility’s mission and strategic plan.
- Collaborate with medical and nursing staff, department managers, and other professionals to address and resolve infection prevention challenges.
- Maintain compliance with state health department standards, federal regulations like the HIPAA, and guidelines from the CDC, while ensuring timely data entry into the National Health Safety Network (NHSN).
- Conduct ongoing assessments of hospital policies and procedures to identify discrepancies in infection prevention efforts and recommend necessary revisions.
- Prepare and present detailed reports and statistical data for various committees, including the Board Quality Council and medical executive committee.
- Lead annual risk assessments and develop action plans based on previous activities, including creating dashboards for monthly data maintenance.
- Review laboratory results for multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO) and support outbreak investigations.
- Develop and maintain the Blood-Borne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan in accordance with national and professional standards.
- Ensure compliance with hand hygiene and precautionary policies, working closely with clinical department managers.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Public Health, or another applied clinical science.
- A minimum of 2 years of infection control experience within a healthcare setting.
- Strong skills in data entry, retrieval, analysis, and the use of information management systems.
- Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques, including statistical process control.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) from the CDC is preferred but not required.
Compensation:
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,000 per year
