Position Summary:

As the Section Supervisor for the laboratory, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of lab results by supervising one section of the laboratory. You will oversee technical procedures, quality control, and the operation and maintenance of laboratory instruments. You will be responsible for ensuring that all lab tasks comply with the highest professional standards and regulatory requirements. This role also involves acting as a mentor for junior staff and promoting a culture of confidentiality, collaboration, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise one section of the laboratory, ensuring accurate performance of technical procedures and quality control.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and ensure proper calibration and function.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold the integrity of patient sample identification.
• Work closely with the Laboratory Director to ensure all regulatory standards are met.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to contribute to the smooth operation of the laboratory.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology/Biological Science or related field.
• Experience: 1-3 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred.
• Certifications: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license required; ASCP Registry preferred.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, push/pull up to 50 lbs of force, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and mobility.
• Vision Requirements: Adequate vision and hearing to perform duties safely and effectively.
• Working Conditions: Exposure to contagious diseases, biohazard materials, and unpredictable work environments.
