POSITION SUMMARY: The plant mechanical systems group is part of the Plant Systems Engineering department. The person in this position supports development of technical requirements and advances the design of the balance of plant (BOP) mechanical systems within a power plant utilizing NuScale power modules. General duties of this position include preparation and review of system requirement documents and other technical documents in accordance with NuScale Power procedures and applicable project specific requirements. This position also provides some oversight and technical support to plant design development performed by NuScale’s design partners, with a focus on supporting internal technical decision making . The ideal candidate will have experience with design, operation, and equipment associated with a variety of balance of plant systems including radioactive waste systems, steam turbines, condensate and feedwater, main steam, process utilities, and HVAC systems .

The target pay range for this position is $108,908 - $131,441 annually.The full pay range is $97,642 - $152,722.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare s and review s engineering documentation s that communicate the design requirements of components, systems, and structures associated with balance of plant systems.
- Plans, organizes, and performs complex assignments in a team environment.
- Act s as technical lead for various balance of plant mechanical systems to support design partner ’s design development and technical requests.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Quality Assurance: Demonstrated understanding and implementation of quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1 preferred
- Education/Certification: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university is required. A PE license in mechanical engineering or other applicable discipline is desired.
- Experience: Minimum five years of relevant, full-time professional experience is required. Demonstrated knowledge in the following is also required:
- BOP mechanical systems, or applicable p rocess system design and operation , preferably in the nuclear industry.
- Applying regulatory requirements to the design of nuclear power plant systems.
- Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly using a phone, personal interaction, and computers.
- Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately in a rapidly evolving environment.
- The employee frequently is required; to sit and stand; walk; bend, use hands to operate office equipment; and reach with hands and arms.
- Ability to travel nationally and locally using common forms of transportation.
