Nuvance Health has a network of convenient hospital and outpatient locations — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York — plus multiple primary and specialty care physician practices locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Summary:
To greet pre-op surgical patients and their families upon arrival. Check-in pre-op surgical patients into SMARTRACK to facilitate patient entry and to maintain efficient patient flow. Escorting of patients to their assigned rooms preoperatively. Act as a resource to patients families on how to interpret the SMARTRACK screen in the waiting room. Assist with the admitting process by checking patients ID and date of birth, obtaining and copying pharmacy /incurance cards to help facilitate the discharge process.
Responsibilities:
1. Answers phone calls and directs them to the appropriate party Criteria A: Assures that phone is covered when not personally attending it Answers phone calls and directs them to the appropriate party Criteria B: knowledgable in transferring phone calls Answers phone calls and directs them to the appropriate party Criteria C: comunicates clearly
2. Check-in to SMARTRACK Criteria A: Accurately enters patients into the SMARTRACK system
Check-in to SMARTRACK Criteria B: Assures that patient moves from check-in to admitted to ambulatory surgery
3. Assists with admission process Criteria A: Accurately identifies all preoperative patients, and places ID band onto patients unaffected extremity if applicable. Assists with admission process Criteria B: obtains pharmacy and or insurance cards for copying Assists with admission process Criteria C: has patient sign predesignated forms prior to being brought into ambulatory surgery
4. Acts as resource to patients family in communicating patients progress through surgery Criteria A: Helps family of patient understand the SMARTRACK communication screen Acts as resource to patients family in communicating patients progress through surgery Criteria B: Informs Ambulatory surgery staff and PACU staff when family members are waiting Acts as resource to patients family in communicating patients progress through surgery Criteria C: Informs Ambulatory Surgery secretary when patient has not arrived for surgery at predetermined time
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Required: High school education and 1 year of experience as a receptionis or office clerk.
Minimum Experience: one year
Desired: Ability to appropriately interact with people. Have the ability to communicate clearly anc concisely in person and over the telephone.
