The Role:

This role is a key member of the accounting team, overseeing and directing the financial reporting and analysis activities of the department, including the filing of consolidated financial statements and regulatory reports in connection with SEC and regulatory reporting requirements. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of reports reflecting the Company's operating results, financial condition, and cash flows.

Day to Day:

  • Oversees the preparation of quarterly and annual filings with the SEC, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and 11-K.
  • Provides oversight and review of consolidated financial statements and supporting accounting work papers.
  • Oversees the collaboration across departments, including coordinating the review of quarterly SEC filings among the Controller, Corporate Secretary, Investor Relations and Accounting.
  • Monitors and ensures the timely identification of and compliance with new accounting guidance and complex disclosure and reporting matters.
  • Contributes to the development, execution, and management of the monthly reporting package for the monthly close process which is utilized by the Company's Finance Committee to analyze results.
  • Completes and oversees internal control procedures to ensure compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Participates in the research, resolution, and documentation of technical accounting issues.
  • Assists with the preparation and review of the Proxy Statement.
  • Oversees the financial reporting for our subsidiaries.
  • Oversees the preparation of certain FERC Form 2 sections.
  • Assists in the preparation and review of ad hoc management reporting.
  • Leads the financial reporting team through the execution of the reporting process; establishes team performance goals and objectives for each year; and develops, trains, and mentors team members with ongoing performance feedback.
  • Demonstrates appropriate leadership and decision-making behaviors; maintains technical job knowledge and personal skill development. Committed to coaching and developing employees.
  • Participates in other ad hoc projects as required.
  • Participate as a subject matter expert for external audit preparation and data gathering in order to demonstrate compliance.
  • Acts as a technical resource for others.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with outside industry contacts and businesses to stay current with developing trends and best practices in accounting systems and procedures.
  • Supports the Company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices.
Come on your first day with:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA certificate are required.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible accounting experience, with a minimum of three years in a leadership role and at least three years in public accounting preferred.
  • Experience in a utility operation and knowledge of standard utility accounting and public utility reporting and filing requirements are highly desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in applying SEC rules and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles is required.
  • Requires demonstrated leadership experience in directing and leading a department; delegating and coordinating employee activities; skill and commitment to coaching and developing employees.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Wdesk, and XBRL preferred.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally across an organization.
  • Conflict resolution skills; ability to mediate and resolve problems between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Requires outstanding ethical standards and values consistent with those of the Company.
  • Proven ability to function in a team environment, provide information and training to users.

Base salary range: $132,250.00-$195,600.00per year, depending on qualifications

Annual Target Incentive:Senior Manager,15.0% target
Targets are calculated using eligible earnings during plan year participation. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% - 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years. Must be employed by September 30 in order to receive any prorated payout.
