Position Summary
The Domestic Transportation Coordinator is responsible for managing the transportation of goods within the domestic supply chain. This role involves coordinating shipments, ensuring timely deliveries, managing relationships with carriers, and optimizing transportation costs. The coordinator will also work closely with other departments to ensure smooth logistics operations and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Make outgoing calls to NWH's established carrier base to tender truck loads and secure bookings for existing customer orders and transfers.
- Negotiate truck load spot rates using Excel historical pricing tool.
- Identify opportunities with our carriers to develop contracted lanes and mode changes for cost reductions.
- Use Excel to download shipping and cost data for KPI’s, reporting and system maintenance.
- Respond to shipping complaints, lost product and damages.
- Use Intellitrans/CarrierPoint TMS (Transportation Management System) for load tender, spot market load posting, rate management, reporting and carrier invoice processing.
- Manual freight invoice processing with Accounts Payable.
- Problem solve day-to-day operations.
- Support, assist, and collaborate with other team members of the Domestic Transportation, Customer Service, Sales, Operations and the Supply Chain organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required with 4 years logistics, supply chain or transportation experience.
- College Degree preferred with minimum 2 years experience in logistics, supply chain or transportation.
- Must be personable over the phone and in writing (extensive e-mail correspondence).
- Computer experience with Excel and Microsoft Office products required.
- Intellitrans/CarrierPoint TMS experience a plus.
