Position Summary:
A Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping a facility operating and repairing any problems when they are discovered before they have a chance to worsen. A Maintenance Technician is required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around a facility including the following.
Key Knowledge & Responsibilities:
- Shall follow safety policies and procedures and perform all work according to existing policies and procedures while maintaining a high standard of quality and workmanship in performing required duties.
- Working knowledge of safety practices common to industry including LOTO (OSHA Lockout/Tagout program).
- Arc Flash Certification preferred but will train up through certification.
- Electrical working knowledge 480v systems including of testing and replacing photo eyes, wire pulling, conduit sizing and running.
- Lift Mechanics - Hydraulic maintenance, advanced trouble shooting, change hoses, valves, rebuild cylinders, repair clogged filters and strainers and repair valves.
- Diesel engine repair experience
- Pipe Fitting Knowledge, able to thread and fit a pipe together.
- Advanced welding skills, able to do fabrication work. Follow all “hot work” protocols.
- PLC controls and trouble shooting.
- Where applicable, various fueled fired low-pressure boiler operations.
- Understanding of Industrial hydraulics, pneumatic systems, and pumps.
- Good working knowledge of belts, pulleys, and sprocket drive systems.
- Intermediate computer knowledge to enter purchase orders for approval.
Basic Requirements:
- Work as part of the maintenance team to correct and enhance plant operations for the continued success of Northwest Hardwoods. Have a strong desire, dedication and determination to succeed, by continually improving skills through on-the-job training and various offered educational opportunities.
- Must follow all established safety policies. Must have good safety record and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Be adaptable to the work environment and work where needed as required.
- Willing to ask questions so there is a clear understanding o.f the work requirements to be completed.
- Must be able to work any shift -- overtime, weekends, holidays as required and in all conditions. There is a potential to be called in for emergency situations.
- Capable of doing required documentation legibly like down time reports.
- Able to work as a team, get along with team members; give and take advice and criticism from other team members; good team attitude.
- Have a strong desire to learn and the dedication and determination to succeed.

- Required experience of at least 5 years in a maintenance position with increasing responsibilities
- NWH offer multi-level Maintenance positions based on experience except entry level at this time!
