What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at NXG Strategies?
Summary:
The Accounting Assistant is responsible for daily processing of various key accounting tasks including processing revenue cases, managing Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable, keying monthly journal entries and preparing reports. Approximately 30-32 hours per week.
The position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Duties:
- Maintain Accounts Receivable database ensuring it is accurate, complete and current
- Process client cases for monthly reporting numbers and issue invoices, as necessary
- Manage cash receipts, ensuring they are applied to the proper customer account and invoice
- Reconcile daily cash postings to bank information and AR database to ensure accuracy
- Monitor Accounts Receivable and contact customers regarding collections, as necessary
- Research and resolve issues related to customer invoices, payments and balances by working with Client Management team and client personnel
- Process Accounts Payable
- Perform other accounting tasks, as necessary and as time permits
- Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Responsible for other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or related) with 1-3 years experience in Finance or Accounting related position
- Proficient and accurate data entry and keyboarding skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficiency using PC with Microsoft Office Suite and automated financial systems; familiarity with QuickBooks
- Month-end close experience a plus
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with all levels of management
- Positive self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Organized, productive, dependable and willing to cross train on various tasks
